Adaptive Clothing

Clothes and small tools that make getting dressed easier on the days your hands, balance, or energy aren't cooperating.

Easier closures:

Magnetic buttons, zip fronts, and snap closures replace small fasteners. Front-closure bras are easier to manage than hooks in the back. Magnetic clasp converters let you keep wearing your favorite necklaces without fighting a tiny clasp.

Dressing tools:

A button hook pulls buttons through with one hand. Look for a thick, cushioned handle if grip is a problem. Sock aids, long-handled shoe horns, and reachers help when bending is hard.

Shoes

Hands-free and zip-around shoes let you step in without bending or tying laces.

Staying cool, or warm

Heat makes MS symptoms worse for many people, so a cooling vest can make a Boise summer manageable. Heated vests help on cold days. MSAA runs a cooling equipment program for people with MS, and there's a link on our More page.
